DOLPHINS Fun Facts and Amazing Photos of Animals in Nature Amazing Animal Kingdom Book 5 1 Emma Child

I have read several of the amazing animals' books written by this author. Who can resist looking at the face of a dolphin? Child begins by describing the general features of dolphins like smooth skin and bottlenoses and then goes on to explain there are many variations. I had never heard of the dalmatian dolphin and was surprised to learn that dolphins migrate each year.
Child’s discussion of the way dolphins communicate by echolocation and a whistle sound that is unique to each dolphin is fascinating. I learned that dolphins use sea sponges to protect their mouths from spiny fish and that some dolphins have more than one hundred teeth. Children will be surprised to learn that dolphins live in families like theirs and that they delight in playing with each other. The Dolphins’ intelligence level is second only to that of a human and they are good problem solvers.
This book is informative and a great research tool for children in the elementary grades. Only one thing disappointed me. The photos on the Kindle can be enlarged by double-clicking, but this was not simple to do and once enlarged some of the photos looked blurry.
Recommended for dolphin lovers everywhere regardless of age.

DOLPHINS Fun Facts and Amazing Photos of Animals in Nature Amazing Animal Kingdom Book 5 1 Emma Child Reviews

Even though the books in this series are short, it takes me a long time to get through each one because I can't stop looking at the incredible pictures. In this book, the one that really stunned me was the unborn dolphin shown inside his (or her) Mom's womb. I have never seen anything like it before. The picture which demonstrates the size of a dolphin brain compared to humans and to other animals certainly explains a lot!

Of course, dolphins are some of the most fascinating animals because of their adorable looks and their intelligence and personality. I THOUGHT I knew a bit about them, but I learned some things in this book. I knew that there are different types of dolphins and that there are even some fresh-water dolphin, but I never realized that there are so many variations and that they live in such diverse environments. I suppose that their intelligence enables them to adapt to such a wide range of climates and conditions.

I love this series and cannot imagine any child who wouldn't. They are well-written and well researched and the photographs are outstanding.
As usual I received this book for free for the purposes of review; this time from the author directly. Despite this kindness I give my scrupulously honest opinion below.

In a nutshell and quite this is a very brief and very simple book about dolphins. The content is appropriate for any age but only the very youngest readers will stick with this. The contents along pretty simple lines with a picture at the top of each page and a paragraph of text under it.

On the positive side, the book is very easy for young readers. Even if your child has never seen a dolphin before in their lives this book will make sense. It assumes nothing about the potential reader and begins at the very beginning.

To the negative side, the pictures in this book are very tiny. You can enlarge them on your by holding your finger over the photo for a second until a menu pops up allowing you to 'zoom' but sadly once you do this the photo just becomes blurry and suffers significantly. Lastly, the writing is reasonably professional though it does have a tendency to interrupt itself in the middle of a sentence with another sentence "wait, what?!" which might be confusing to newer readers.

In summary, this is a good little book to have around but it isn't perfect. It'll certainly keep at least one child entertained for a few minutes while you cook dinner. All the books in this series, from what I've seen, are of almost identical quality so make your selection based on your favorite animal; you'll get the same basic premise no matter what. The series is very consistent.

PS It is always my endeavor to provide helpful reviews. If you find my review helpful then great! If you do not, then please leave me a comment indicating what you want to know and I'll be sure to do better next time.
Like most of Emma's books they are about nature and animals. I like them a lot for reading to children or to have them read the book their selfs to work on their reading skills. Children find animals interesting, especially the exotic ones that they do not get to see often. This is an interesting books as most children get to see dolphins in an aquatic show and they can see how friendly and intelligent they are.

The book covers various types of dolphins and their lives and what they eat. Their brains are the second most intelligent on the earth right behind humans. Dolphins like family and friends and they travel and live in groups called pods. The book discusses dolphins from birth and many can live to be 30 to 50 years old.

I like Emma's books as the are entertaining, fun and educational. They are full of facts about the topics they are about and they present a good learning experience for a child. I also like how they include photographs of the animals being covered. I was a little disappointed that the photos in this book were a little smaller than normal and when you expanded them they can be a little fuzzy on some of them. This is still an excellent book and I liked it a lot. I rated it at 5 stars.

I obtained this book on when it was offered for free.
